Donald was our first Tsum Tsum Cupcake, but he couldn’t be alone for long! With our second installment, we crafted Daisy, after all these two have been together since 1937.
Daisy Duck made her debut in 1937 as Donna Duck, which Disney recognized and affirmed this fact with a pin in 1999. However, that name didn’t last long and the next time she appeared in a cartoon, her name was Daisy.
Daisy is Donald’s sweetheart, Walt had it correct making these two fall for each other. Daisy has been in some of my family’s favorite cartoons. From Fantasia 2000 to Twice Upon a Christmas (don’t forget Once Upon a Christmas), Daisy has mostly been a supporting character to both Donald and Minnie.
While Daisy is mostly known for her on-screen performances, Daisy has had a more fruitful career appearing in comics. In fact, in the 70s Daisy was featured as a superhero of sorts, named Paperinika, which means Super Daisy in Italian. She was the counterpart to Duck Avenger, which was portrayed by Donald. Disney created Duck Avenger to make Donald look like a winner since it is extremely rare that in his on-screen and comic appearances he comes out on top.
Our girl, Super Daisy, didn’t actually have any superpowers, but she did use some crazy devices created by a high society fashion designer. Of course, Daisy would use something fashionable, being a high fashion person herself.
What makes Daisy standout, as a Disney character, is her profound intelligence and her sophistication. Daisy always tries her best to make Donald a better duck or a calmer, less temperamental duck, but she sometimes shows quite a temper herself.
My family and I created these fondant toppers to the cupcakes as a fun summertime project (they can also work for a great wintertime project, too!). The fondant was homemade and we used Wilton food coloring gels. From a taste perspective, these fondant toppers can be very sweet – after all, they are built with sugar, but they are meant as an elegant, edible cupcake topper.
My kids got me hooked on the Disney Tsum Tsum game by Line. It’s available on both Android and IOS and it’s a simple, connect the character type of game, but you can earn coins and buy your favorite Tsum Tsums to play with. Each of the Tsum Tsums in the game has a special skill they can use to help clear Tsum Tsums. Daisy, in particular, can turn an entire row of Tsum Tsums into Donald Tsum Tsums. You can clear the Donald Tsum Tsums with either Donald or Daisy. In the game, this is referred to as “calling a sweetheart”. Daisy’s special skill can be activated by connecting 11 Daisy Tsums. You can find Daisy in the Happiness box in the store.
