One of the hottest movies of this past summer was a sequel to the 2003 hit, Finding Nemo. I was really looking forward to seeing it and I ended up liking Finding Dory more than Finding Nemo!

Here is a list of things that you might not know about the movie Finding Dory:

1. Fans of the HBO show, The Wire, might recognize the voices of Idris Elba and Dominic West portraying the characters of the lounging sea lions, Fluke and Rudder.

2. It took 22 weeks to shade Hank, the octopus, with Ed O’Neill’s voice. Much of the extra time was spent allowing Hank to be able to camouflage himself.

3. Speaking of Hank, he has 50 suckers on each of his seven arms, totalling 350 suckers.

4. During the stingray migration scenes in the movie, over 5,000 stingrays where rendered.

5. Keeping up with the numbers, there is an astonishing 16,091 fish swimming in the Open Ocean exhibit in the movie’s Marine Life Institute.

6. As many of us know, technology is constantly changing and the technology used in animation is no different. It’s been so many years since Finding Nemo was created, Dory and Nemo, and other characters from Finding Nemo all had to be recreated in new software. Animators had to recreate specific shapes and expressions that made the characters who they are by putting images side-by-side. This was to ensure that fans wouldn’t have any issues recognizing or even telling a difference in the characters from the first movie.

7. Even though it has been approximately 13 years between the release of Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, in the movie, only six months have passed.

8. Dory is the Queen! Dory is the most liked character on Facebook with over 25 million likes, this tops any other Disney or Pixar character! (Poor Woody…)

My family and I cannot wait for Finding Dory to come out on video on November 15, 2016 to watch again and again!!

Finding Dory Tsum TsumMy kids got me hooked on the Disney Tsum Tsum game by Line. It’s available on both Android and IOS and it’s a simple, connect the character type of game, but you can earn coins and buy your favorite Tsum Tsums to play with. At the moment, Dory is not a character that is available in the game, but we are waiting patiently!
