Modern day cartoons just don’t seem to be as cool as the cartoons we had growing up, that is unless you aren’t talking about Phineas and Ferb! While the series has ended, it has left us with a treasure trove of really smart, witty, and down right hilarious cartoons that will be enjoyed for years to come.
From catchy songs to amazing spoofs on famous movies, Phineas and Ferb did a great job of capturing the imagination and creativity of childhood and wrapping them up in an entertaining format. The first episode begins on the first day of summer and the series finale ends on the last day of summer, in between are crazy adventures of battles between good and evil, discovering new lands, bringing havoc upon Danville, completely astonishing inventions, and sibling rivalries.
Phineas and Ferb is based on a true story, co-creator Dan Povenmire. Growing up as an artistic child prodigy, his mother encouraged him to “never waste a day of summer”. He took this advice to heart and spent his summers creating fantastic stories and creations to go along with them.
So that brings us to Phineas’ pet, Perry, a.k.a. Agent P, a platypus that lives a double life, one as a cross-eyed adorable platypus that appears to not be able to hurt a fly, the other as “Agent P” a secret agent for an organization called the O.W.C.A. (the Organization Without a Cool Acronym). He spends the majority of each episode battling his nemesis, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, a maniacal “doctor” from Gimmelshtump, which is a city from the Eastern European nation of Drusselstein.
One of my favorite moments involving Perry, was in the episode where Phineas and Ferb build a teleportation device and accidentally cause Candace , Phineas’ sister, and Perry to switch bodies. There is also a hilarious moment in the Perrisodes where Doofenshmirtz transitions his appearance to look like Agent P, check that out here:
